Wow!!!! There is so much going on it is hard to know where to start!! I guess I will start at the beginning. (Yes college and grad school are paying off!!)

WEDNESDAY NIGHTS AT OZONE. We have begun a study on the Book of Acts called “Church As It Should Be.” We meet at 7PM every Wednesday night and offer up praise and worship to our King, Jesus!!!! We then we will look in God’s Word at the first century church and why they were so much more surrendered to Christ as compared to the 21st century American church.

ANGELS, DEMONS, AND SPIRITUAL WARFARE. Sunday nights at 6PM we will engage in some very deep biblical discussion of the spirit world. We will be looking at Angels and answering questions such as: What do they do and how do they relate to us? In regards to demons will answers questions such as: What are demons? Who is Satan? And how do demons and Satan relate to us? We will also explore the topic of Spiritual Warfare from a biblical perspective. This study is not for the faint of heart. It is not a game and you will see high the stakes really are and how intense spiritual warfare is on a day in day out basis. After our study we will go to the ROC (Gym) and have some food and unleash some steam. Parents drop your kids off at the Ozone at 6PM and pick them up at the ROC at 8PM.

SEE YOU AT THE POLE. September 24 is See You At The Pole. I time to pray for your school, teachers and friends in a dynamic show off solidarity with all the Christian brothers and sisters at your school. What I love about See You At The Pole is that it is totally student driven. You decide what you want to do and how you want to express your faith and love for Christ. Breakfast will be at 7:30 AM at the Greer Christian Learning Center and See You at the Pole will begin around 8:15AM. (we are selling shirts to promote SYATP. Go to http://syatp.com/index.php?page=shop.browse&category_id=7&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=6&vmcchk=1&Itemid=6 to see the selections. We are selling the t-shirts for $10, the long sleeve T-shirt for $15 and the hoodies for $18. price includes shipping costs.)

FIFTH QUARTERS in the Ozone and ROC (Gym).. We have 3 fifth quarters planned for this fall. We are having them when both Greer High and Blue Ridge High have home games on the same day. The dates are OCTOBER 1, 15, AND 22, from 10 PM until Midnight. This will be a great time of Fun, Food, and Fellowship!!!!

CLEMSON CONCESSIONS starts this Saturday, September 4. We have the following dates available for you to earn money for all our camps, retreats and ministry opportunities for the rest of 2010 and for the winter and summer of 2011. (September 11, October 2, 16, 23 and November 6 and 27) If you are interested in signing up to work any of these games email Donna Dacus at sdacus@charter.net. (We did have some youth who worked enough to not pay a dime for anything we did as a student ministry last year!!)

We are incredibly excited about Wednesday, May 19. We are going to gather at Ozone with at least two other churches (maybe more than two) to worship. Will Snipes, who cannot be properly explained in prose–you have to come meet him for yourself, will be teaching. Everyone’s favorite worship band, HelloSoul, will be leading us in worship. Bring $1 for pizza at 7 p.m. and worship will begin when everyone has finished eating. I do not recommend missing this night of worship. It will be a night we will all remember for a long time and can tell our grandchildren about someday. I am not going to tell you to bring a friend, because I know you are already texting them by now to tell them about it. Begin praying that the Holy Spirit would bless us with passionate worship and renewal.

Our spring Break Mission Trip was amazing!!! I am so grateful to our students and adults and their hearts and attitudes. Their diligence helped Garden City Chapel by the Sea get their facilities ready for their upcoming summer. Garden City Chapel by the Sea accommodates around 12,000 young people from church groups each year. Those groups come from many different denominations and from approximately 22 states. Here is a brief overview of what happened in our days of ministering:

Wednesday

We arrive and we eat and get settled in. We then hit the ground running by training for our evangelism endeavors. We have a brief training in using the Evangel Cubes and then it is off to the arcade and pier to share the Good News of Jesus Christ. They were nervous by they stepped out in faith and boldness and we saw 2 people surrender to Christ as their Lord and Savior!!

Thursday

We spend the day working on the grounds of Garden City Chapel. It was amazing weather and we got a lot done. We laid 6-8 pallets of sod, cleaned all the dorms and the chapel, pressure washed three dorms, and filled in holes caused by erosion with dirt. That night we go to Broadway at the Beach and enjoy a night of shopping, fun and good food!!

Friday

Work that should have lasted 2 days is finished in 2 hours on the second day. Our students and adults worked so hard on Thursday that they finished 98% of the work and only had a few odds and ends to take car of on Friday. They are rewarded with free time on the beach!!! That night we have a special time of sharing the Lord’s Supper on the beach. This is my favorite part of our trip. We contemplated on the sacrifice of Christ and His mighty love for us. It was an awesome time of reflection as we walked to the beach in silence, had communion and walked back in silence.

Saturday

We load up and head home.

It was an incredible weekend and I am so blessed to have students and adults who work so hard and step out in faith to give Jesus Christ maximum glory!!

New Testament Survey and Theology.

I am so excited to be going book by book through the New Testament on Sunday nights at 6 :00PM. We are meeting at Aaron Mosteller’s house (3189 North Hwy 14) and Brian and Sarah are graciously feeding us after our study. We are going through each book of the New Testament focusing on primary information for starters and practical advice for study. We read a lot of Scripture and it designed for those who really want to understand God’s Word better and apply it to everyday life.

Silver Ring Thing.

The Silver Ring Thing is from 7PM- 9PM on Friday, March 5. (WE WILL LEAVE THE CHURCH AT 6:15PM FROM THE OZONE PARKING LOT). And the cost is only $5 (for each youth and each parent if they chose to go) which I need by Wednesday, February 24. (At Marathon Church in Greenville) After the Silver Ring Thing we will grab a bite to eat so bring about $10 for a meal after the program. We should be back around 10:30PM.

What is the Silver Ring Thing? I am glad you asked. The Silver Ring Thing is a 2 hour stage performance which incorporates high energy music, special effects, fast-paced video, personal testimonies, and comedy all delivered in a concert-style approach with which teenagers can respond and relate. The program also presents an evangelistic message focused on forgiveness and new beginnings with an opportunity to embrace a “second virginity.” Students who make a commitment to abstinence may purchase a silver ring as a symbol and reminder of their decision. (For only $20 purchased at the event.) After the event, students who make this commitment are followed-up by SRT staff with weekly emails that encourage and equip these students in their commitment.

PARENTS, YOU HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO BE PART OF THIS AS WELL. YOU WILL HAVE YOUR OWN SEPARATE SESSION WHILE THE YOUTH ARE IN THEIR SESSSION. DON’T MISS THIS OPPORTUNITY!!!!!!

Spring Break Mission Trip.

Spring Break Mission Trip is right around the corner. (March 31-April 3)It will be in Garden City, SC and the cost is only $25 due Wednesday, March 17.

Centrifuge

We still have spots open for Centrifuge at Ridgecrest the week of June 14-19. The total cost is $250 for the week but I just need a $50 deposit as soon a possible to secure your spot. This is the best discipleship based camp anywhere.

PowerPlant

We also have spots open for PowerPlant in Nashville, TN on July 5-10. The total cost for this missions experience is $225 and again a $50 deposit is need ASAP. This is an inner city missions experience that will allow us to help new church plants in Nashville reach out to those in the inner city of Nashville.

For the last several years, our youth have had a tradition on the Thanksgiving Eve. We load up in our vans and make the hour and a half trip to Charlotte, NC to help Samaritan’s Purse pack boxes for Operation Christmas Child. It is such a joy to see our youth and adults work side by side in an attempt to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ through this amazing ministry. The gifts are small but they aid the missionaries tremendously as they hand them out and share the love of Christ.

This year our boxes went to Ecuador, North Africa, Georgia (The country, not the home of the bulldawgs), and a Muslim country that could not be named due to their hostility towards Christians.

Every year we go I am reminded of Romans 12:1-2 which says, “I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”

I use to think that this was just a small sacrifice. However, God has reminded me that any sacrifice made for Jesus could have a more profound effect on the Kingdom than we could ever hope, dream or imagine.

We will be making our way to Charlotte, NC to, once again, help with Operation Christmas Child. On Wednesday, November 25 we will leave the Ozone parking lot at 8AM to help pack boxes for Operation Christmas Child for loading on trucks to be shipped all around the world. Bring CASH ($5-$10) for lunch and we will return around 5-6PM. Sign up with Chet by Wednesday, November 18.

Shopping for Romanian Operation Christmas Child

Sarah Cowan is heading to Romania in December to do some mission work with fellow Centrifuge staffers. They will be ministering to the Roma People, whom we have been praying for at Fuge and some of us got to work with in Athens, Greece. One of the things they will be doing is helping hand out Operation Christians Child boxes; however, the teenagers never get any presents. Therefore, the team from Centrifuge wants to help get them things the teenagers need for Christmas like hats, gloves, scarves, etc. We will be going to Wal-Mart on Wednesday, December 2 during O-zone. We will leave at 7PM (So be there at 6:45 PM) and get back around 8PM. The youth only need to bring around $5-$10 to shop with. Sarah will be taking pictures and some movie footage of the kids opening your presents and you get to see your gifts being given to the Roma children!! I think that is really cool!!

Christmas Party Version 2.0

Due to the rock slide I-40 we will not be going to Dollywood. It would add at least 2 hours of driving time and we would be on the road too long for a one day event. Instead we are going to eat at Larendas and play indoor miniature golf in Greenville. The cost is only $10 and that money is due Wednesday, December 2.

            Saturday, December 12

5:30 PM Meet at the Ozone Parking Lot

            6 PM – 7PM Eat at Larendas

            7:30 PM Play miniature golf

9:30- 10PM Pick up youth at church

Centrifuge 2010

JUNE 14-19, 2010

Ridgecrest — Asheville, NC

Cost: $250

Hold your spot with a $50 Deposit DUE BY DECEMBER 2

(Remainder of $200 due by April 25)

We have been blessed to have such a mission minded church. World Changers has been a missions opportunity that we have pursued for a long time. Last year we shifted gears a little bit and let Mission Serve help us in our mission endeavors for the summer. This year we shift again. Why? My desire is to see you have a well rounded missions experience in your years as a part of Fairview Baptist Church. World Changers is great with physical labor and earning the right to share the Gospel through selflessly serving others. However, you can stay on a roof and never really confront anyone about their need for Jesus. This year we want to give you an opportunity to be on the ground floor of missions with PowerPlant.

PowerPlant is a ministry of the North American Mission Board designed to engage students in church planting and evangelism. The first PowerPlant project was in 2003, and it has been growing since then. PowerPlant participants will learn church planting principles and evangelism skills each morning, then have a chance to engage personally through assigned ministry team activities in the afternoon and evening. Students and adults will begin to see that the church is not about buildings . . . it’s about people! And there are lots of people in North America who need Christ!

I am talking with PowerPlant about allowing us to work with Mosaic Church in Nashville, TN. The lead pastor of Mosaic is Gary Morgan. He was our camp pastor at Centrifuge when we were at North Greenville University and last year at Union University. He is truly a man that has a heart for lost people and his church is reaching the inner city of Nashville. I think it would be great since we were spiritual fed by Gary for 2 years that help serve him in reaching Nashville with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. If you are looking for a missional challenge that is very intentional in reaching those who do not yet know Jesus Christ, then PowerPlant is for you!!
