We have been blessed to have such a mission minded church. World Changers has been a missions opportunity that we have pursued for a long time. Last year we shifted gears a little bit and let Mission Serve help us in our mission endeavors for the summer. This year we shift again. Why? My desire is to see you have a well rounded missions experience in your years as a part of Fairview Baptist Church. World Changers is great with physical labor and earning the right to share the Gospel through selflessly serving others. However, you can stay on a roof and never really confront anyone about their need for Jesus. This year we want to give you an opportunity to be on the ground floor of missions with PowerPlant.
PowerPlant is a ministry of the North American Mission Board designed to engage students in church planting and evangelism. The first PowerPlant project was in 2003, and it has been growing since then. PowerPlant participants will learn church planting principles and evangelism skills each morning, then have a chance to engage personally through assigned ministry team activities in the afternoon and evening. Students and adults will begin to see that the church is not about buildings . . . it’s about people! And there are lots of people in North America who need Christ!
I am talking with PowerPlant about allowing us to work with Mosaic Church in Nashville, TN. The lead pastor of Mosaic is Gary Morgan. He was our camp pastor at Centrifuge when we were at North Greenville University and last year at Union University. He is truly a man that has a heart for lost people and his church is reaching the inner city of Nashville. I think it would be great since we were spiritual fed by Gary for 2 years that help serve him in reaching Nashville with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. If you are looking for a missional challenge that is very intentional in reaching those who do not yet know Jesus Christ, then PowerPlant is for you!!
